The perfect client is a single family homeowner who is ready to hire a professional to maintain their Lawn Care San Diego  landscaping. If a person has a yard at all they are the perfect fit. Most of our clients have a decent yard and just want someone who knows what they are doing to take care of it. More often than not they have had a bad experience with the typical gardener. We love to find long term clients. Since we have been around since 1989, its clear we are not going anywhere. We have multiple clients we have serviced for more than 20 years. Its fun to see a yard fully mature now knowing we did the job over 20 years ago. The services are the same now as they were when we started. In a nutshell, we maintain everything in the landscape except anything over twelve feet. Trees and Palms can be large and require additional equipment and ladders so often times we bringh

What are the services that Lawn Pros provides?

Mowing

A big part of what we do is lawn care. We mow and edge the lawn to keep it looking nice all the time. Having good equipment is a big part of this. Allowing the lawn to grow without scalping it is important. Throughout the year we adjust our mowing height to keep the lawn looking great. A good fertilizer schedule is essential. There just arent enough Lawn Care San Diego  nutrients in the soil to feed the lawn. We use a balanced fertilizer with just the right amount of nitrogen. This changes throughout the year so in the hotter months we use something different than the cooler months to get the best result. We want the lawn to be actively growing to promote a healthy cycle.

Gardening

Gardening is an art. It takes years for a person to become really good at gardening. Each season has its own set of tasks. These include pruning, trimming, weeding, caring for, manicuring, and many other things. I have learned over the years how important all of these are and each one is unique and important. There are different techniques when it comes to pruning. A good gardener knows each one. All plants need to have healthy structure and a good internal branch distribution. This involves removal of all the branches that are dead and any branches heading in the wrong direction. We can do all kinds of gardening from one time cleanups to weekly maintenance programs. Many of our clients like the service to be done every other week which is a great way for them to save some money and still get a high quality landscape that is done on a regular basis.

The plants like it too. I try to touch every plant on the Lawn Care San Diego property and see how it is doing. A good gardener can see how a plant is doing just by looking at it. You want to ask, is it happy?, is it sick?, is it stressed out? Is it thirsty or did it get too much water? This is where the green thumb comes in to play. We dont want to lose any plants. We want all our plants to thrive and produce beautiful foliage, great flowers, and an abundance of fruit. There is a lot to making this happen and this is our passion.

When

I started mowing lawns when I was a teenager through the hire a youth program. I would ride my bike to peoples houses and use their lawnmowers to mow the lawn. I already mowed lawns at my parents house since 1976. Since I had mowed that lawn for several years already, I could mow other peoples lawns too. Eventually in 1989 I got my license and have been doing it ever since.

Where

I grew up in Vista, California. I mowed lawns there for starters. My parents also owned a greenhouse in Cardiff By the Sea, California and I would work there on the weekends in the 70’s. After they sold it, I worked at another nursery in Vista, California doing the same thing. I would ride my bike across town to get to the place and that would take me about 30 minutes or so to get there.

Why

I love it. I love to garden. I love to help people and I love to help plants. I love to see the greenest lawn around and I know how to make this happen so it is a joy to do it. Since my parents got me in to plants at an early age and I liked it, I kept going back to it. I tried other things and even went to school planning to be an Optometrist. When I was in college, I needed money to work my way through school so I started mowing lawns again to pay for it. I did well in school and could have finished but eventually, my business grew and I decided not to go to the long education process and finish school. My heart was still in the outdoors working with Lawn Care San Diego  plants.

It doesnt matter how many years I have been doing Lawn Care San Diego it just gets better and better. There is alway a new thing to learn. The weather is always changing. I love working outdoors. It is a great career and a great job. Yes it is hard work and you get dirty but I dont mind and it is very rewarding.

How

In college, I worked about a year for a landscape company learning all the construction aspects. Then, I left that job to work for a company that subcontracted out the labor for lawn mowing jobs they needed done. This was a perfect fit. I got a truck and my own equipment and did that while I went to college in Long Beach. Once I got up to a certain number of my own accounts, I went on my own. When I finally quit school, I moved back to Oceanside in the North County area where I was from and started getting jobs there too. I worked restaurant jobs at night so I could do lawn mowing during the day. In the beginning I had only a couple accounts. Back then we would use the PennySaver magazine and I got just about all my jobs through that. We used pagers back then and I would get paged and have to go find a pay phone to call the customer. Then I would break out the Thomas guide and find them on the map. I highlighted the Thomas guide where all my Lawn Care San Diego  jobs were and eventually had enough to where I could be in one city all day instead of all over the place trying to have enough to survive. My business took off and I have been doing it ever since.
