We are getting more and more sophisticated in our business model for Lawn Pros here in Oceanside.  Our website is helping us become available to more people out there who might need a good gardener.  Lets face it, good gardeners are hard to find! People are finding us on the web. They just google something like gardener Oceanside or mow and maintain a lawn and we come up. Once they get to our website they can fill out a form and get a call back quickly.  We want to hear from people and see how we can help them.

We do all kinds of Lawn Care San Diego  things besides mowing lawns but that is our specialty.  There is more to mowing a lawn than people think.  First thing is it’s important to cut the grass at the correct mowing height.  If you cut it too high, you have created a problem. Once the grass gets tall it is harder to manage.  You might get a fungus too because you are creating a kind of jungle canopy down there in the nitty gritty of the environment between all those tiny grass blades.  It’s actually like a little miniature forest down there.

In a real jungle you have this super green lush leafy place where all kinds of stuff goes on.  It’s so thick, you don’t even see the sky. It is beautiful but you can also get some pretty crazy stuff growing and living down there.  The shade part is good and that is one good thing about letting it get a little taller in the hotter months but it has to be just right.

Lots of inexperienced Lawn Care San Diego  gardeners will cut the lawn super short in the summer and remove ALL the “canopy” the blades of the grass creates.  This can cause burn because the sun just beats down on the turf so much and dries everything out.  So there is a real science to the whole thing when it comes to how high to cut the grass.

We are experienced gardeners and have done it long enough that we have experimented with all of this until we just know what to do. When we pull up on a home with a beautiful lawn we are going to mow, we immediately change the height for that particular house.  It may take a few visits to dial in the mowing height but we try to get it to where it needs to be within a visit or two.

But you can’t just do it all at once if it’s a major change because the grass might go into shock.  That’s why we know if we spread out the height of the lawn over a couple Lawn Care San Diego visits the turd will respond to it even better. And the sprinklers can get blocked because the grass is in the way and deflects the water spray if it is too tall. There are so many factors!

Actually that brings up a good point.  The distribution of the water.  One of our main complaints is sprinklers.  When it comes to watering the lawn, it can get expensive.  Water bills these days are going sky high so it’s important to use it wisely.  One way to look at it so it is not so intimidating is to think of it on an annual basis.

Obviously, you aren’t going to be using the same amount of water in winter as you are in summer.  Winter is the time to save water.  If we get a lot of rain, that is even better.  We tell our Lawn Pros gardening customers and clients to turn the clock off before the rain. Do it first if odds of rain are greater than 70% and at least a quarter inch of rain.  Once you get a quarter inch of rain, you can really start to save water because that can last several days or even a week.

A couple more of those storms and you’ve got two weeks and so on.  We have been able to leap frog storm to storm without using the sprinklers for months at a time and save our lawn care customers a lot of money by being proactive this way.  So all that savings can be passed on to the summer months when you have to water more and the heat is on.

I tell all of our gardening service customers to remember to look at their water bill on an annual budget.  Also, our motto is to be stingy all year and July, August, September water like crazy.  This way you don’t end up with damage to the grass and the turf has to be replaced.  It’s easy to burn a nice lawn in only a couple days if you are not careful.

This happens all the time and next thing you know, your grass looks terrible and everyone is unhappy with the Lawn Care San Diego service.  We look at California Gardening as being divided into two seasons rather than four.  It’s really how it is here in Southern California and our Mediterranean climate.  I always think of April Fools Day as the cut off.  So you have Halloween to April Fools Day which is April first as the start of winter.

Up until October 31st, you have a lot of nice days.  The great thing about California is that you can get a beautiful rose bloom on Christmas Day!  We always mow the lawn all year round.  It is great to live in one of the best weather climates in the world.  So you have these two kinds of seasons here in Oceanside that change but overall only those really hot months in July, August, and September are going to need a lot of water.  We have another great strategy for that.  We like to get those roots down deep by using MP Rotator nozzles.

All of our Lawn Care San Diego lawn mowing accounts where we cut the grass that has them installed are much greener.  It is always amazing to me how much Lawn Care San Diego  difference this water saving technology can make.  The amazing thing about having deep roots is sustainability in the hottest months.  While other lawns are really struggling, the houses where we cut the grass and mow the lawn and do the yard care are always greener if they have a good irrigation system in place.  Deep roots make green lawns.

They have much better recovery as well.  They almost always come back where as if you have a lawn with some not so deep roots the damage will be a lot worse for a lot longer time and they don’t just bounce right back.  We can help with all of that. We test your irrigation system and make sure it is working properly.  I am an irrigation expert and know how to fix any issues you may have with your irrigation.
